The Short Version
We collect what we need to run the studio — your email, your channels and videos, and how you use the product — and nothing we don't. We don't sell your data. You can delete your account at any time and we'll remove your content.
The rest of this page is the long version. It applies to faulty.tv and any service operated by Faulty ("Faulty", "we", "us").
What We Collect
Account information
When you sign up we store your email address and a hashed password (or your OAuth provider identity, e.g. Google). We may also store your display name and any other profile fields you fill in.
Content you create
Channels, character configurations, scripts, generated audio, generated videos, and any uploads (e.g. background videos, profile images) are stored on our servers so we can render and serve them back to you.
Billing data
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number or full payment details. We retain a record of your subscription plan, token balance, purchase history, and Stripe customer ID.
Usage data
We capture product analytics events (pages viewed, actions taken, errors hit) via PostHog. These help us debug issues and decide what to build next. We do not use them for advertising.
Technical data
Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request paths, timestamps) are kept for a limited period to investigate abuse, performance issues, and outages.
How We Use It
- To operate the service — authenticate you, render videos, deliver assets.
- To bill you correctly and prevent fraud or abuse.
- To send transactional emails (sign-up confirmation, password reset, receipts).
- To investigate bugs, monitor performance, and improve the product.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do notsell your personal data, and we don't use your content to train third-party AI models.
Third Parties We Use
We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate the studio:
- Supabase — authentication and the primary database that stores your account and content.
- Stripe — payment processing for subscriptions and top-ups.
- PostHog — product analytics and error tracking.
- Google — OAuth sign-in (only if you choose "Continue with Google").
- AI / TTS providers — used to generate the dialogue audio in your videos. Generation requests include the script text you submit.
Each of these providers has their own privacy policy. We only share with them what is required to make the relevant feature work.
Cookies & Similar Tech
We use a small number of cookies — primarily a session cookie to keep you signed in, and an analytics cookie to attribute events to a consistent visitor ID. We don't use third-party advertising cookies.
Your Rights
You can, at any time:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete your account, which removes your channels, videos, and profile data.
- Export your generated content.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@faulty.tv. We'll respond within 30 days.
How Long We Keep Things
- Account & content data: until you delete your account.
- Billing records: 7 years, for tax and accounting reasons.
- Server logs: 30 days.
- Analytics events: up to 24 months.
Children
Faulty is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app banner. Continuing to use Faulty after a change means you accept the updated policy.
